Despite being on an incredible 11-fight winning streak, UFC 301 flyweight title challenger Steve Erceg isn’t a household name.  The Australian, who is ranked 10th, has mostly remained under the radar. He plans to change that this Saturday.

Erceg takes on flyweight champion Alexandre Pantoja in the UFC 301 main event in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday and isn’t worried bout being the underdog.

“I know that I wasn’t on the top of everyone’s mind when it came to a title shot, but the way that the division was Pantoja had already beaten a lot of the challengers and people are injured” Erceg said at the UFC 301 Media Day.  “The other guy in line was [Muhammad] Mokaev was also on the same bill as me.  I had a much more exciting fight and the UFC gave me a chance.

“I am here to be the greatest guy in the universe, and whether I am the underdog or the favorite doesn’t matter to me.  I’m going in and fighting another guy in a ring and the best one will win. “I’m going to go in there and fight another dude in a cage, and whoever is the best will come out.”

Pantoja’s durability and toughness are well-known.  Erceg believes the fight will be’scrappy,’ and is out to show his toughness.

I think I will hold range.  I’m walking him…
