Two-time Olympic Gold medalist and former PFL champion Kayla Harrison made her octagon debut at UFC 300 against former bantamweight titleholder Holly Holm.

Harrison completely dominated Holm as she won the second round by submission.  Harrison’s greatest challenge was to lose weight.  Her last competition was in November when she weighed 150 pounds.

Harrison stated that “the entire camp was afraid, not of the battle, but of the weight.” The MMA Hour.  “I was afraid.  “I haven’t been 135 pounds in 16 years.”

“I gambled on this despite losing millions of dollars in money that was almost guaranteed.  Harrison added, “To take a risk.”  “This was my goal.  It’s the reason why I got into MMA. So let’s get started.  I said let’s go, but was fully committed.  I didn’t think I would be able to lose weight.  It’s hard to believe that I managed to gain weight.

Harrison is looking forward to a title fight after her weight loss and debut victory.  Holm was ranked 5th when she entered UFC 300.  Harrison was a contender from the moment he won, especially since it was so one-sided.

“I want my title next,” Harrison said in her post-fight interview with Joe Rogan.  “That’s why I came here.  There’s only one thing I care about, so it doesn’t matter if Raquel is there.
