Tyron Woodley wants to fight Jake Paul in MMA: 'I'm the one that gave Jake credibility'


Tyron Woodley wants to be Jake Paul’s first mixed martial arts opponent.  The former UFC Welterweight Champion wants the three-fight trilogy to take place in the cage.

Woodley finished his UFC deal in March 2021.  Five months after that, Woodley was to fight YouTube content creator and professional boxer Jake Paul. This would be Paul’s fourth boxing match.  Paul won via a split decision.  

Woodley was given a rematch when Tommy Fury had to withdraw from his bout against Paul in December 2021.  Woodley, who was knocked down in the sixth-round of his MMA bout with Paul, wants to fight a third time.  

I’m the person who gave Jake credibility.  Don’t get it f**ked up.  Not Ben [Askren]Anderson, not Nate Robinson [Silva]Nate [Diaz], not Tommy Fury,” Woodley said on Demetrious Johnson’s YouTube channel.  “I was the one who had the press conference.  “I did the most with him.”

Woodley added, “By beating me and then coming back and knocking out the most of my opponents after a close match that they thought I had won, it gave him credibility and made him look like a fighter.
