Marcin Tyrbura beats Tai Tuivasa to the UFC Vegas 88 Main Event


UFC Vegas 88 took place on Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas and was headlined by a heavyweight bout between Top 10 ranked Tai Tuivasa and Marcin Tybura.  

Tuivasa was ninth on the rankings and desperate for a win when he entered the Octagon on Saturday. The knockout artist was on a losing streak of three fights and hoped that Tybura would be the one to turn things around. 

Tybura lost his last match to interim champ Tom Aspinall but had won his previous nine fights.  He was ranked 10th in his division and wanted to move up.

Tybura moved forward and pressed Tybura but ended up with slam.  Tuivasa delivered elbows and clinched.  Tybura was cut.  Tuivasa scored a kick to the leg.  Tybura hit back with a headkick, which was blocked.  Tybura continued to punch and tried to bring the fight down.  Tybura threw Tuivasa to the ground and delivered a right hand.  Tybura shifted Tuivasa to his back in the middle of the round.  

Tybura was on the ground while Tuivasa was laying down.  Tuivasa was thrown to one side, but Tybura did not move.  He continued to fire shots.  Tybura snared a rear-naked choking.  Tuivasa wasn’t able to defend himself.  He left.  Tybura choked Tuivasa ….
