Magomed Ankalaev finishes Johnny Walker by punches

The UFC started their 2024 event calendar on Saturday in Las Vegas at the UFC Apex with a fight between the top 10 ranked light-heavyweights.  Third ranked Magomed Ankalaev faced seventh ranked Johnny Walker in a rematch.

They first fought in UFC 294 back in October.  Ankalaev landed a knee on Walker that was illegal, and the fight ended as a no contest.

Walker then landed a kick to the leg and moved forward.  Ankalaev landed a right-handed strike.  Walker continued to put pressure on Ankalaev during the early stages.  They traded leg kicks.  Walker made Ankalaev swerve with some left hands.  Ankalaev started to move forward as the round progressed.  He accidentally kicked Walker’s groin.  Walker was allowed time to recuperate before the fight began.

Ankalaev continued to deliver leg kicks while Walker continued to land front kicks.

Ankalaev became more aggressive in frame two.  Both men used a heavy kick attack.  Ankalaev was thrown to the ground.  Walker circled on the outside, but was caught by a right-hand that sent him to the canvas.  Ankalaev’s follow-up shot left no doubt.
