Jon Anik retracts recent comments and apologizes to MMA Fans


After his comments about the UFC 297 main event between Sean Strickland and Dricus Du Plessis weren’t received well by some fans, Jon Anik lashed out and insisted his time in the sport may be coming to an end.

Many sided with the veteran broadcaster, but others reacted to his remarks about fans. The 45-yearold hinted a possible move to the NFL. He also called MMA fans ‘the least common denominator,’ which he later retracted.

Jon Anik apologized after making the comments on his podcast. UFC’s play-by-play announcer, Jon Anik, took full responsibility for his reaction. He claimed he was emotionally charged at the time.

Anik replied to fans that “last week, on my podcast I was in a high emotional state due to the numerous allegations of bias made at UFC 297).” “And I regret some of my comments relating the MMA fanbase.”

“I was surprised by the extent to my comments being repurposed and sensationalized. I need to take more responsibility when I am on an open mic.”
