Following his loss to Dricus Du Plessis in the UFC 297 main event, former champion Sean Strickland released a statement alleging that Du Plessis had headbutted him during the match.  Strickland attached a video to a post on social media where he blamed his loss on ‘the headbutt.

“Well f**k haha… man that headbutt really made it difficult to see but I thought we got the job done. The whole bloody thing!!! Next one!! “Thanks to everyone who has supported me,” he wrote in X, formerly Twitter.

Strickland said, “We know I won… The only reason it wasn’t a one-sided fight for five rounds was because my eye ….. was taken by the headbutt.
