The UFC 300 main events were announced before the announcement of the main event. Most expected the UFC 300 headliner to be Dricus DuPlessis, the current champion, and Israel Adesanya the former king in the middleweight division.

Dricus du Plessis may have confirmed in a social media post that his first middleweight championship defense will take place at UFC 305 on 18 August in Perth, Australia. Israel Adesanya, according to the South African will try to reclaim a throne he once held.
