Former UFC and Strikeforce women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey opened up in an interview with Valeria Lipovetsky about her final days in the UFC.

After her UFC 193 knockout loss to Holly Holm, Rousey felt obligated to return for another fight.  In that fight, she was mercilessly beaten by Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 and finished in just 48 seconds.  It was the final fight “Rowdy”, who graced the octagon.

“I felt that I had to go back to fight again because I felt as if I owed everyone and the fans who believed in my abilities. Rousey explained that she felt the need to set an example for others on how to overcome adversity.

After that defeat, I was done with fighting [to Holly Holm],” Rousey continued. “I had suffered so many concussions that I couldn’t even take a jab at that point without getting one.”

Rousey attributed her loss to Holm to a “bad mouth guard,” a concussion before the fight, and a “terrible” weight-cut.

During the interview, Rousey said something that caught the attention of former UFC, Bellator MMA, Strikeforce, and Invicta FC women’s featherweight champion Cris Cyborg.

Rousey said, “I’m the greatest fight that ever lived.” “But I was at a point when I’d taken so much.
