Alex Pereira: 'Jiri Prochazka is superior to Jamhal Hill'


UFC 300 has arrived.  The historic event is headlined by a light heavyweight title bout between champion Alex Pereira (9-2) and former titleholder Jamahal Hill (12-1, 1 NC).

Pereira won the 205-pound championship by stopping former champion Jiri Prochazka in the second round of the UFC 295 main event in November. 

“I’m feeling very good.  I’m ready.  The camp was excellent.  This camp was perfect.  Perfect training partners.  The energy is good,” Pereira told SHAK MMA.     

Pereira, looking ahead to Hill’s matchup with Prochazka, believes that the striker is superior to his UFC 300 counterpart.  

“I believe Jiri is more precise in his strikes, how he moves, and the manner of fighting.  Jamhal Hill’s power is slightly more powerful, making him a dangerous fighter because nobody wants a punch and to go down.  Jiri Prochazka has a superior skill level.   

Pereira’s UFC 300 title defense will be his first as a light heavyweight.  He moved up after losing in a UFC 287 rematch to Israel Adesanya.  He wants to bring the same excitement he brought at middleweight, but in the 205-pound class.
